The Team...

Christine Clarke (the owner of the business) is based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Christine’s husband Peter launched SEN Press in 2006. Peter’s background was in special needs and basic literacy teaching over 20 years. He had a business background, too, having founded and run a successful school and public library book supply company for 10 years. Peter and Christine have a son with Down's Syndrome, and Peter was a governor at his special school for many years. Peter sadly died in 2009, and Christine is currently running the business with the team listed here.

Catherine Burch (Editor and Project Manager) and Jackie Dobbyne (Managing Director) at Cambridge Publishing Management work closely with major publishers to produce a wide range of educational, vocational, illustrated reference and travel books. Catherine has previously worked for a variety of educational publishers, including Cambridge University Press and Wayland.

Neil Straker and Julie Sontag (responsible for our cover designs) at Neil Straker Creative, are specialist designers to the publishing industry .

The following agencies have provided artists: Graham-Cameron (Jean de Lemos, Bob Moulder, Sue Woollatt, Sarah Wimperis) SGA (Mike Lacey), Sylvie Poggio (Kathryn Baker). John Storey is self-employed. NB Illustration (Ben Hasler and Ruth Thomlevold).

Sue Graves and Jacqueline Dineen (commissioned authors) are both widely published writers.

Janie Nicholas (Marketing), formerly Marketing Director for Hutchinson Education and Business Books, has for many years worked as a freelance marketing consultant to leading educational publishers, including Heinemann Education, Longman, Edexel, Spark Learning and Badger Publishing.

Paul Uttley (Direct Mailing), formerly Head of Sales and Marketing at Heinemann and Longman, now has his own firm EDSOL that distributes educational catalogues and magazines

Duncan Beal (Sales and Distribution), formerly at Longmans, now runs York Publishing Services, a firm specialising in sales and distribution for many small publishers.

Mark Birkett, Brian Turner, James Lindley and Des Friel at Egenica Ltd, Rochdale are responsible for the website design and maintenance.

Ian Hunt, project manager at Q & D Multimedia in Derby who are designing our interactive CDs. Also Duncan Witham, Shaun Rafferty and Joe Butcher.
